A milestone moment
The CPA Research Foundation hosts its first in-person retreat! The power of shared lived experience cannot be overstated, particularly in the RARE world, as Sinéad James, co-founder of CPA Research Foundation, highlights in her review. Read more here.
A bunch of Tough Mudders
Co-founders, Sinéad and Chris, fellow trustee, Kirsti and some fabulous family and friends took part in a Tough Mudder challenge in September 2024, which involved getting around a 5k military style obstacle course! It was challenging (for some of us 😝) but a lot of fun! Most importantly, we raised over £1600. Thank you to Paula, Sam, Angelo, Kalim and Aydan for being such a fantastic team! And not forgetting Franki, who came along to cheer !
Brain Awareness Week
CPA Research Foundation has become a partner of Brain Awareness Week. Every March, Brain Awareness Week runs a global campaign to foster public enthusiasm and support for brain science. Partners are committed to advancing public understanding about the brain and the promise of brain research. For more information, visit brainawareness.org
Community Spirit
We want to give a massive shout out to our wonderful member, Sandra Falla and her colleague Richard for taking on the mammoth task of completely the London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday 10 September 2023. 60 miles on the hottest day of the year is no mean feat. They have raised over £4,500 for CPA Research Foundation and we will be forever grateful for their time, efforts and for supporting the charity! Thank you!
What is an angiogram?
The Brainbook Charity have kindly given us their permission to share this amazing video showing a brain angiogram. Their aim is to improve public and patient understanding of neurological and neurosurgical diseases.
The video is of an actual brain angiogram using a catheter, x-ray imaging guidance and an injection of contrast material to examine blood vessels in the brain for abnormalities such as aneurysms and arterovenous malformations.
Cerebral angiography produces very detailed, clear and accurate pictures of blood vessels in the brain and may eliminate the need for surgery.

Teamwork makes the dream work!
A big shout out to this fab four, who completed the Yorkshire Peaks Challenge for us in June 2024 . They managed to complete the challenge in under ten hours and raised over £700 in the process. Thank you so much, David, Stephan, Aaron and Christian!
